Artisanal chocolate is not a rarity. An explosion of brands prefaced by an explosion of interest some years back has made it common. It is even found in supermarkets. How do you make the world remember – and value – what artisanal chocolate is about?
Some Films director, Mija Kembre, found the answer in an evocative black & white film for Lithuanian brand, Chocolate Naïve.

“Chocolate Naive represents more than just a family business; its story is deeply rooted within the Lithuanian woods, a world of its own. The concept behind this commercial was to embody a sense of place. My approach sought to let the viewer experience the dramaturgy through emotion rather than impose a narrative. The characters in the film are the very people who craft the chocolate. To truly feel their world, one must open up to the experience, as no rational approach can capture the entirety of what defines this place,” she explained.

The approach aligns with Kembre’s philosophy of filmmaking. She noted, “Seeing the world through the camera lens inspired me to look deeper into seemingly ordinary things. I believe that the world of film is where this perspective gets to be purified. In my work, I seek to awaken curiosity and look for magical points of view that we all secretly seek in our romanticised idea of life.”
