Nedal Ahmed has become executive creative director at Uncommon New York reporting to founding chief creative officer, Sam Shepherd.
Ahmed’s most recent position was ten months as executive creative director at Mother London, which she joined in 2023. Previously she was freelance creative director for Google Pixel at Google Creative Lab, and creative director at Wieden + Kennedy Tokyo, leading creative on accounts including Nike, Tinder and Ikea. She has also worked at 72andSunny Amsterdam, Droga5 new York and BBDO New York.
At BBDO New York, Ahmed created The Talk for Procter & Gamble, the film that brought out into the open the grim reality for Black Americans through conversations in which mothers from various eras and social classes attempt to prepare and protect their children for the difficulties and dangers of growing up black in an America that was unsafe for them. The Talk earned many of the industry’s most desired awards, including a Cannes Lions Film Grand Prix and an Emmy for Outstanding Commercial – and most importantly, ignited conversations outside advertising that America needed to have. It was covered by a range of news outlets, including 60 Minutes and The Washington Post, and led to a follow-up film, The Look.
