Ant Nelson and Mike Sutherland, who moved up from ECDs to chief creative officers in January, have appointed Nicola Wood and Amber Casey as creative directors. Wood joins is a former ECD at Ogilvy UK; Amber Casey is ex MullenLowe. The pair are the first hires Nelson and Sutherland have made since their promotion.
Nelson and Sutherland commented, “Amber and Nicola joining Adam & Eve/DDB is a huge win. We’ve been lucky enough to work with Amber on a freelance basis, so are thrilled to welcome her as an official part of the team and we’ve been eager to work with Nicola for years. They are creative powerhouses with world-class credentials in their own right, so we’re incredibly excited to see what they’ll come up with together in this new partnership.”
Wood spent eight years at Ogilvy UK, joining as a creative director and being promoted to ECD two years ago. Before Ogilvy UK, she was a board creative at RKCR Y&R, working on brands such as Marks & Spencer and the BBC. She began her career as a creative at Grey London.
Wood stated, “From the moment I met Ant and Mike I knew it was a great fit. I loved everything about them, from their honesty and integrity to their amazing client list and ambition for greatness. Adam & Eve/DDB has consistently done great things and I’m beyond excited to get the chance to do great things with them too. It’s something I’m doing without Andy [Forrest] but with his blessing, we both know how fabulous Amber is from our RKCR days. For me, stepping back into the role of creative director is a huge leap forward because I want to be much closer to the work again – and I can’t believe I get to do it here. Pinch me, I must be dreaming.”
Casey has been a creative at VMLY&R, BBH London before joining MullenLowe UK as a creative director in 2014, where she created work for brands including Knorr, the British Heart Foundation and MicroLoan Foundation. She has created campaigns such as Volkswagen’s Bollocks and Harvey Nichols’ Fashion Victim. She began her career at BMP, which went on to become DDB and is now adam&eve/DDB.
Casey stated, “Nothing much has changed in the 20 or more years I last worked here. It’s still full of the best creative minds, best briefs and clients who come to Adam & Eve/DDB for that magic. Joining as Ant and Mike have become CCOs made it a no-brainer to return, as they are just so bloody good at what they do and care so much about the work and all the people who make it happen. I feel incredibly lucky to be joining forces with Nicola, who is a phenomenal talent and great fun too! I can’t wait to see what bonkers and brilliant things we can achieve together.”
