Australia is stumbling towards a federal election. Even with the rise of independents last election due to rumblings of discontent, it will be a two-party contest between incumbent, The Labour Party and the opposition, The Liberal Party. In the middle of a really tough time for many Australians, it is going to be an interesting one. There’s the usual argy bargy come to light, the verbal punch-ups that remind you of teenage girls squabbling, and an infectious global uprising of people hating other people for their own woes.
Australian creative director, Philip Taffs, and art director, Diana Thornley, have injected their creativity into the toing and froing. That creativity and its metaphorical button are currently circulating the corridors (and computers) of power in Canberra via their local member. There is even talk of producing actual meme buttons.
Pivoting off the slogan, We need all the ALP we can get, the campaign aims to dramatise the significant achievements of the Labor Party over the past three years. And what they feel are the unknown dangers of the Opposition taking power in May.
