New Zealand’s largest vehicle certifier, VTNZ, is selling its customer service with a murderey post-apocalyptic road warrior (awesome description c/- the campaign’s creatives).
Yes, really.
The new brand campaign by FCB New Zealand includes a series of TVCs featuring a new (anti) hero, Road Commander, along with his prisoner, Garry.
In the film, Road Commander, a battle-hardened warrior from a post-apocalyptic wasteland, attempts to get a certification for his highly dangerous battle rig.
The vehicle, aptly named Fallen Angel and sporting the number plate, DO0M, takes the shape of a classic ’57 Chevrolet Bel Air, mixed with a heavily weaponised post-apocalyptic monster truck.
The Fallen Angel boasts a cow catcher, double-barrelled flame thrower and harpoon. The flame thrower and harpoon are no-nos, but with new blades (the wiper version), the car gets passed.

The car’s design was headed up by Finch directors, The Bobbsey Twins from Homicide; production designer, Guy Treadgold; and Peter Pound, head vehicle designer from Mad Max: Fury Road. And Road Commander’s adventures can be enjoyed over the next 18 months. The campaign will roll out with an initial series of five TVCs plus radio, out-of-home and social.
