Colenso BBDO/Proximity has been a regular on the podium at the annual ECHO direct marketing awards (DMA International ECHO Awards Competition) in recent years. At 2014 awards in San Diego on October 28, the agency picked up three Golds and a Silver.
Both Burger King’s Motel BK and its anti pre-roll campaign won Gold in the Retail/Direct Sales category.
Samsung’s Smart Phone Line won Gold in the Consumer Products category.
Frucor’s V Robbers won Silver in Product Manufacturing and Distribution.
Colenso BBDO/Proximity was second only to OgilvyOne Worldwide at the show in terms of overall performance.
Colenso has also won Diamond ECHO awards (the best of the Gold winners) in 2012 for Pedigree Doggelganger and in 2013 for Tip Top Feel Tip Top.
Nick Garrett, Colenso BBDO/Proximity chief executive officef, stated, “Without great clients and great briefs you can’t do great work, so we’re thrilled that Burger King and Samsung have been rewarded with three golds and that BK were the only client to win two golds at the show this year. Along with all of our clients they continue to push us and we are lucky to work with such great partners.“
Wayne Pick, executive creative director at Colenso BBDO/Proximity, added, “It’s been another great year at the ECHO Awards, not only for Colenso BBDO/Proximity, but for New Zealand agencies. With Republik winning the Diamond ECHO this year Kiwi agencies have picked up the ‘best in show’ for three years straight, which is outstanding and shows just how high the standards of work are locally.“
OgilvyOne took home the USPS Gold Mailbox for its Sally’s First Show campaign for Arts Centre Melbourne. This special award is based on the most innovative use of mail as the critical component of an omni-channel strategy. The ECHO Board of Governors and a representative from the USPS selects the award winner among the Gold, Silver and Bronze ECHO Winners.
The campaign has also won: 2011 ADMA Bronze for Flat Mail; 2011 ADMA Silver for Art Direction Craft
2011 Caples Bronze for Direct Mail, Flat; 2011 Mobius Gold for Copywriting;
2011 Mobius Silver for Art Direction; 2011 Mobius Best of Show for Direct; 2012 ECHO Bronze for Not for Profit.
OgilvyOne Melbourne general manager, Nick Muncaster, said the award was “a great recognition for a campaign that combines both creativity and effectiveness”.
“Winning an ECHO is serious acknowledgement in a field of world-class direct work and follows hot on the heels of our national success. As our direct activity increasingly involves digital platforms, it’s great to still produce beautiful, highly-effective paper based pieces.”
Ogilvy dominated the ECHO Awards, with 19 awards in total, making it the most highly awarded agency of the night. The 18 other awards won by Ogilvy offices in New York, London, Melbourne, Brazil, Frankfurt, Toronto, Madrid and Malaysia.
