Nike is using its considerable power for something really, really good. It’s fighting the old school way of thinking about team games, especially football, that was aggressive, male-dominated and downright nasty.
The film, created by Wieden + Kennedy London, and directed by Riff Raff’s Rich Hall features an old and grubby football who shouts toxic “advice” about the game until he is booted away by Marcus Rashford, forward for Manchester United and the England national team. The twenty-four year-old player represents the new era of football – on the field as well as in this commercial.
