Sonar has received nominations in five categories at this year’s Screen Music Awards:
- Best Music for a Documentary (Neon)
- Best Soundtrack Album (Sherpa)
- Best Music for a TV Series (Janet King)
- Best Music for a Mini Series (DNA Nation)
- Feature Film Score of the Year (99 Homes)
The nominations are shared between Sonar composers, Matteo Zingales and Antony Partos.
And Sonar is the sound house with the most nominations going into the final judging and presentation on November 8 at City Recital Hall in Sydney.
Tonight also marks a Sonar Wednesday night take-over, in which all channels are dominated by Sonar soundtracks in a line-up of homegrown dramas, including The Wrong Girl (premiering tonight), TV series Doctor, Doctor and the SBS drama series, Deep Water.
Sonar producer, Sophie Haydon, “It’s pretty exciting to think that all these channels will showcase the Sonar touch at the same time!”
Running too right now are commercials with the Sonar touch. Sonar composed the music for:
- Virgin Australia AFL’s campaign Together We Fly, directed by Rob Stanton-Cook of Collider
- RSVP’s Hallelujah Moments, directed by Abe Forsyth from Goodoil Films
- CBA’s Wealth, directed by JH Beetge from Goodoil.
Haydon coomented, “It’s wonderful to see our works getting so much recognition. We are lucky to have such diverse and passionate composers who continue to go above and beyond. I really look forward to sharing our upcoming projects and celebrating their success.”
The annual Screen Music Awards are hosted by APRA AMCOS in conjunction with the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) and represent the most successful marriages of music and film.
